"I really enjoyed my 2nd time in Belarus. Being able to see the changes we are making, makes everything worthwhile. I was sad to leave and cannot wait to get back out there."

Get Jarrod and His Van to Belarus 2013
Who is Jarrod?
Hi I’m Jarrod and in September 2013 I’ll be driving from my home in Bangor, Northern Ireland to a small town in Belarus called Ivatsevichi to help WEast Chernobyl on their humanitarian and development aid projects in the adult institute there. And I’ll be bringing a van with me. From my home in Bangor to Ivatsevichi, Belarus - it is a long trip! Crossing eight countries – Northern Ireland, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Poland and finally Belarus, it is 1715miles long (that’s 2760 kilometers)! As I said, it’s a long trip but it’s worth it at the end! Why do I do it? The good question is why do it? Well, because in my opinion, the greatest gift you can give someone is time. Time is one thing that many people take for granted, but time is precious. I have been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to drive a van filled with much needed supplies and equipment out to an adult institute in Belarus through WEast Chernobyl. I'm not doing it to challenge myself, I'm not doing it to put on a CV, I'm simply doing it because I know I will be making a positive impact to people lives who have not had the opportunities in life that I have had. Having done this before, I know that I am making a difference. The Fundraising Bit To help get myself in the van to Belarus, I’m trying to reach a target of £1715. That’s £1 per mile I’ll be driving. Maybe you know me from work, from home, from school or not at all, but help me reach my personal target. All funds raised will go directly to the project. |
